The Illuminations series continues the artist's exploration of Closure, where the mind take several disparate elements and constructs a whole in their own mind. By reducing the portrait into light of various intensities, the artwork invokes the basic nature of the photographic medium. As with all of his work, each piece acknowledges the subject, but is still universal in its perception. This series was inspired by holiday decorations and the idea that we are all remainents of a star.
